Amazing stay at SigaSiga Sands Resort
We had an amazing stay at SigaSiga Sands Resort over the last 10 nights. We were very sad to leave the place! We originally chose SigaSiga because the price was right, but we got so much more than we bargained for. The people were fantastic - Gene is an excellent host/manager who is happy to help with anything you might ask for. He's up for a chat, very knowledgeable about the island, easy-going, and usually laughing!
The caretakers are a lovely Fijian husband and wife duo who live at the back of the property. If you choose SigaSiga, you must order food from Sunita! She is an incredible cook and herself or Subash will bring the food hot to your door at whatever time you request. They also bring fresh coconuts with the tops cut off for you to drink out of and then eat the flesh with a spoon! The curry dahl is amazing, and all of this is super cost effective. We ordered twice a day, every day. If you preferred to cook yourself, the kitchen is fine to use as well - we personally left it to the masters. The kitchen was separate to our bure, but only by about 1 metre.
Our bure was a good size with a comfy bed, relaxing recliner lounge chair, and a decent sized shower and vanity area. It was very comfortable to stay in - even for a long period of time. All of the bures are different styles, which is pretty neat! Make friends with the other guests and check them out. We had outdoor on the furniture on the deck where we could eat our meals every day, and a hammock slung across the deck as well where Gene will enforce a strict "hammock time every day" policy ;) there are also some hammocks right by the sand so that you can listen to the soothing sounds of the water while you get your quota...
The beach was lovely as well - private, big fluctuations between high and low tide, no waves. Easy to walk along and goes for quite some distance. The lagoon described is fantastic to swim in if you're looking for some deeper water! The resort has a beautiful white dog named Tuktuk who will accompany you along the beach, all the way to the lagoon, and wait for you on the shore while you have a swim. She is incredibly friendly and loves company. The property itself was also beautiful - grass everywhere, palm trees with coconuts, flowers, and a neat dirt/grass road back to the main tar road. Because there aren't many bures, it's very quiet and relaxing here. A real secluded escape. However, if you're looking for people, Savusavu town is only a 15 minute ($14FJD) taxi ride away, and Gene will give you all the contacts you need to summon a taxi with your bure's phone. Gene is also happy to help you organise visits to nearby activities such as villages,...

Fantastic snorkeling, quiet beach and beautiful hiking trails
Great location! Tucked away in a beautiful cove with fantastic snorkeling, quiet beach, and beautiful hiking trails right outside of town. Easy access to savusavu town and all it has to offer. Friendly staff who are eager to make your stay comfortable. All in all great experience and we would highly recommend the SigaSiga to anyone who enjoys comfortable independent travel.
Private beach and sunshine
It was hard to believe that it was my best trip! We are here to enjoy the disturbed private beach and sunshine. This place has a lovely little dog Duduk, some friendly french friends and a hospitality landlord Gene. It was a pleasure to stay here for only three days. If you can really want to continue this journey indefinitely. If there is a chance, the next time I will choose to come here to enjoy a wonderful the same time, also welcome Gene and his friends to travel to China! Please be sure to contact me at this time.
Response by (October 2017)Bula Takehisa! Thank you so much for your kind words. We really appreciate hearing from you. We love to share our island lifestyle and work hard to make it all look easy to present what we have for your enjoyment. I know you meant to say "undisturbed private beach" :-) Haha Your english is really quite good and I appreciate you writing me. Tuktuk says "Bula!" and she misses you! really! heehee
Take care, Gene
SigaSiga Sands really is the ultimate paradise
We stayed for two weeks and it was so relaxing and wonderful. The property is right on a beautiful beach with a perfect lagoon to swim in just minutes away. The snorkeling right off the beach is perfect and the reef is incredible. Gene and his staff are so helpful in answering questions and they keep the grounds gorgeous. The bure itself it very comfortable and has a gorgeous ocean view.
Kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to cook and fresh, filtered drinking water so you dont have to spend any money or create waste buying bottled water. If you dont feel like cooking, there is a great menu of Fijian cuisine that can be delivered to your door. If you are looking for a more peaceful and local vibe than a resort then this is your place. It is secluded but easy and convenient to get to town. We would 100% stay here again and recommend it as an incredible place to stay.

Perfect lover's nest
The Coco Bure was a perfect lover's nest for my daughter and companion.
SigaSiga sands is quite literally paradise!
You are right on the beach, with the rainforest on the other side. You fall asleep and wake up to the sound of the sea and birdsong. The rock pools and snorkelling directly outside of the accommodation are superb, and the swimming lagoon down the beach is lovely. All of the accommodation at SigaSiga are beautiful, and when we were there, freshly renovated. Gene and his team are so welcoming and hospitable - make sure you try Sunita's food - it's incredible! We thoroughly recommend staying here.
A piece of paradise
This place is really a piece of paradise, the location is ideal, beach and bay are wonderful, food and facilities excellent, couldn't have been better or more relaxing!

We always appreciate guests' feedback. Thanks for writing. Have passed on your regards to our staff, thanks! It was great to see you two really 'living in the moment' in the hammocks, etc. This is what is so rewarding about managing our resort. Hope to see you again in the near future. Take care.Kind regards,

Paradise at your door step
We stayed at the newest bure at SigaSiga. It is quite literally paradise at your door step. Our favorite part of the stay was the laid back and peaceful vibe of the property. We also enjoyed the company of Tuk-Tuk, the very well behaved canine ambassador who accompanied us to the beach swimming lagoon. We also really enjoyed the curries that Sunita prepared (the pumpkin curry and chicken lolo were our favorites). The kitchen is adequate for self catering when buying produce at the local farmers market in Savusavu (highly recommended). All in all Gene, Sunita, and Sabash were very informative and great hosts. I highly recommend that you consider staying here.

Thanks for taking the time to tell everyone about your experience here in The Ultimate Paradise (our company name :-)). Your comment about the "peaceful vibe of the property" reminds me of a couple other similar comments I've heard. Locals have said how it seems that whatever problems or concerns they may have been feeling when they arrived just melt away.
The history of this 116 ac property has been clean and pure with venerable well-established family ownership for most of its 100 year plus titled existence. The first freehold title here was established in 1892 and all has been good ever since as far as we know. We hope to see you again soon. Happy Trails wherever they may take you!
Cheers! Gene
Great experience!
I forgot to inform Gene of our plane's arrival until the last minute but he was still there to pick us up on time. It turned out that the bure we booked was getting worked on so Gene instead put us in the main house. The property is on a lovely stretch of beach with a fantastic snorkeling spot in a nearby lagoon. There's also a nice jungle path on the opposite side of the road we enjoyed exploring. Overall, we were very satisfied with Singha Singha and Gene is a great host who will make you feel right st home!
Response by (July 2017)Bula Pres! Thanks for taking the time to share your comments. All of here at Sigasiga Sands (pronounced sing-a sing-a) are very happy to know you both enjoyed your visit. Here's wishing you both the best in love, health and prosperity.
Kind regards, Gene
The Best
I feel in love with the Coco bure when I booked in. In reality it was much more than that....... We love to be independant and this allowed us to be us. We travelled with our inflatable paddelboards. Each day we took a taxi to a new destination, we had our snorkels and lunch and then got picked up at an agreed point at the end of the day. Our taxi driver, Bablu, was the best. The charge was reasonable and Bablu was so obliging.
Gene, the owner, is such a nice man and his team all feel like family..Subash and Sanita... [recommend the hard coconut and the roti]. I look back at my photos and I know that I will treasure the memory of this holiday forever...... thanks

Well, I'm finally getting around to responding to your lovely Review. Thanks for that!
We work hard to make it look so easy. haha! You two were some of the busiest fun-going guests ever! It was great to see you having so much fun whether here or around the island. We really hope you will return soon. You'll love the fresh, clean look of the renovated Coco cottage. And the huge deck now has a hammock with the same old breadfruit tree growing right through the new deck and roof.
Please return soon ;-)
Cheers! Gene
